Dr. Karla Pivik

Board-Certified Dermatologist · Founder

Dr. Karla Pivik is a board-certified dermatologist with a deeply patient-centered approach to skin care. She hails from Green River, Wyoming, earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Wyoming, and discovered a love of travel during a foreign-exchange program in Salamanca, Spain.

She attended osteopathic medical school at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California, graduating with honors, then completed her residency in Oregon — serving as chief resident in her final year. Following the osteopathic philosophy, she believes all body systems are interrelated, and she treats both the skin and the whole person, mindful of the psychosocial impact of dermatologic conditions.

Outside the office, Dr. Pivik is an outdoor enthusiast and mom of three active boys (plus golden retrievers and a bernedoodle). She loves hiking, biking, camping, rafting, fishing, disc golf, and throwing pottery on the wheel.

Dacia Kailin

Physician Associate · Dermatology

Dacia Kailin is a board-certified Physician Associate specializing in dermatologic care. Originally from Corvallis, Oregon, she earned her Honors B.S. in Kinesiology from Oregon State University, where her thesis on health-informatics disparities sparked a commitment to inclusive, patient-centered care.

She earned her master’s from Bethel University near Nashville with a specialized dermatologic-training certificate, was inducted into the Pi Alpha National Honor Society, and is a Diplomate Fellow of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She sees patients for skin cancer surveillance and treatment, chronic and new-onset rashes, acne, and concerning lesions.

Outside the clinic, Dacia enjoys hiking, mountain biking, camping, cooking, traveling, and time with family and friends.

Elena Salpas

Physician Associate · Dermatology

Elena Salpas is a board-certified Physician Associate specializing in dermatology. She earned her B.S. in Biology (with minors in Chemistry and Spanish) from Northern Arizona University, followed by a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Eastern Virginia Medical School, and completed the Diplomate Fellowship with the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates.

After becoming an EMT and working directly with patients, she chose the PA path to bring her scientific background into hands-on care. Elena treats a broad spectrum of conditions across all ages — biopsies, eczema, psoriasis, cosmetic treatments, and skin cancer prevention — and is a strong advocate for patient education.

Outside her practice, Elena enjoys outdoor adventures, her dogs, and traveling to explore new places.

Matthew Firebaugh

Physician Associate · Dermatology

Matthew Firebaugh is a board-certified Physician Associate specializing in dermatology, with additional experience in urgent care and hematology/oncology. He is a Diplomate Fellow of the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates.

A fifth-generation Montanan, Matt earned his bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from Montana State University and his Master of Clinical Health Services from the University of Washington. He is known for taking the time to listen, explain, and partner with patients — and patients who prefer a male dermatology provider often appreciate his approachable, clear style.

Outside the clinic, Matt enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and trail running throughout the Pacific Northwest with his family.

Hannah Shappell

Registered Radiation Therapist

Hannah Shappell is a highly skilled Registered Radiation Therapist with over a decade of experience treating cancer in Central Oregon. She holds a B.S. in Radiation Therapy from Texas State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude as a Terry Foundation Scholar, and is certified by the ARRT.

She discovered her passion for cancer care at fifteen and has dedicated her career to guiding patients through diagnosis and treatment with empathy and personal attention — a natural fit for Juniper’s GentleCure® / Image-Guided SRT skin cancer program.

At home, Hannah keeps a lively life with her husband, three energetic boys, a very large dog, and backyard chickens. She loves reading, hiking, and gardening.
