Before & after
A mix of actual Juniper Dermatology patients and representative manufacturer clinical images — each labeled below. Individual results vary; your plan is tailored during your consultation.

Overview
Ultherapy® uses focused ultrasound energy to heat the deep support layers of the skin — including the layer surgeons tighten in a facelift (the SMAS). This stimulates a natural collagen response that gradually lifts and firms.
Because it uses ultrasound imaging, your provider can see the tissue being treated and deliver energy to the right depth. Results develop over two to three months as new collagen builds, with no surgery and minimal downtime.
A closer look
Ultherapy® is widely considered a gold standard for non-surgical lifting because it’s the treatment that reaches the deep SMAS layer — the same foundational tissue a surgeon tightens in a facelift — using focused ultrasound instead of a scalpel. It’s FDA-cleared to lift the brow, chin, and neck and to improve lines on the décolletage.
You keep your normal schedule — there are no incisions and essentially no downtime. Over the following months your body builds new collagen, gradually lifting and firming. For early jowling, a softening jawline, or mild neck laxity, it’s a powerful option before considering surgery.
Patients often compare these because they all tighten without surgery. Ultherapy® uses focused ultrasound to reach the deepest (SMAS) layer for true lifting. Sofwave uses ultrasound at a shallower mid-dermal depth. Thermage uses surface radiofrequency. Morpheus8 and other radiofrequency-microneedling devices remodel from the surface downward and also improve texture.
Because Ultherapy® goes deepest, it’s often the choice when the goal is genuine lift rather than surface tightening — and it can be paired with radiofrequency microneedling or PDO threads when both lift and skin-quality improvement are wanted. Your dermatologist matches the technology to your anatomy, not the other way around.
Ultherapy® is a patience treatment: some tightening may show in the first weeks, but the real transformation develops over two to six months as new collagen forms. It’s a single-session treatment for most patients.
Results commonly last a year or more, and many patients do a maintenance treatment annually to stay ahead of the natural aging process. Individual results vary.
There can be moments of deep warmth or discomfort during treatment as the ultrasound reaches the target layers — a sign the energy is being delivered where it counts. We take steps to keep you comfortable, and any tenderness afterward is usually mild.
The best candidates have mild to moderate laxity and realistic expectations: Ultherapy® lifts and firms, but it doesn’t remove significant excess skin the way surgery does. A board-certified dermatologist will be straight with you about what it can and can’t achieve.
What to expect
Ultherapy requires no downtime - you can return to normal activities the same day. You may notice mild redness, slight swelling, tenderness, or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward.
Because Ultherapy stimulates your own collagen deep in the foundational layer, the lifting and tightening appear gradually over two to three months and continue to refine.
What it treats

A single session with an immediate return to routine.
Collagen builds over months for a subtle result.
Ultrasound lets us treat precisely at the right depth.
Investment & financing
Ultherapy is priced by the areas treated (brow, chin, neck, chest) and is typically a single annual treatment rather than a series - a focused investment in non-surgical lifting. We'll map your areas and give you the full figure at consultation.
Exact pricing is personalized to your plan and confirmed at your consultation. We accept major cards and offer CareCredit financing.
Why a dermatologist
Depth is everything with focused ultrasound. A dermatologist interprets the imaging and tailors energy to your anatomy — maximizing lift while protecting nearby structures.

Some lift may be visible early, but the main result develops over 2–3 months as your skin produces new collagen, with continued improvement up to six months.
Results can last a year or more. Because skin continues to age, some patients choose a maintenance treatment over time.
You may feel heat and tingling during treatment as energy reaches the deep layers. Comfort settings are adjusted, and any tenderness afterward is usually brief.
They're different tools. Ultherapy® lifts and firms mild to moderate laxity with no surgery or downtime by reaching the deep SMAS layer; a facelift removes excess skin for advanced sagging. Ultherapy® is often the right step before surgery is warranted.
Both use ultrasound, but Ultherapy® reaches the deeper SMAS layer for true lifting, while Sofwave works at a shallower mid-dermal depth. Ultherapy® is generally favored when the goal is genuine lift rather than surface tightening.
Most patients need just one session, with results developing over several months. Some choose an annual maintenance treatment to stay ahead of aging.
Little to none. You may have mild redness, slight swelling, or tenderness for a few hours to a few days, but most people return to normal activities immediately.
Yes. Ultherapy® lifts and tightens the foundation, while neuromodulators soften lines and filler or Sculptra® restores volume — together they give a comprehensive, natural result your dermatologist can plan.
